Agriculture

In 2015/16, the total value of agricultural output in Wyndham was $98m, of which vegetables accounted for 72.8% of total output in value terms. That is 7.3% of Victoria’s total vegetable output, and 2% of Australia’s vegetable output.

The Wyndham vegetable sector produces mainly broccoli (42.2%), cauliflower (22.5%) and lettuces (20.8%). Wyndham is key to Australia’s diet: the 74 agribusinesses producing vegetables in Wyndham grow 30% of Australia’s cauliflower, 23.1% of Australia’s broccoli and 7.9% of Australia’s lettuce.

The vegetable growing industry in Wyndham is thriving. In 2016 there were 306 jobs in that industry, up by 20% from 2011 figures.
