Active Transport Strategy
This strategy has a direct link with the Smart City portfolio through its commitment to investigate opportunities for active transport innovations within Wyndham.
This strategy also furthers Councils commitment to investigate the deployment of smart sustainable mobility solutions and associated infrastructure across the City, creating an opportunity to encourage increased active transport participation through innovations such as e-scooter and e-bikes.
The strategy will deliver a policy for smart lighting that considers the local environment on shared pedestrian cycling paths and walkways. In addition to this, we are investigating opportunities for digital signage and ways to innovate how we communicate relevant information to pedestrians and cyclists.
Finally, while the strategy proposes to bridge all missing links across Wyndham, some of the key connections we look to address include those to the employment precincts as well as to the transport hubs and major town centres to provide alternate transport choices for our community that are not only better for the environment but also support health and wellbeing.
I’ll talk more about better planning and design around train stations in my today’s Notice of Motion later.
Thank you.
