2021 UNESCO Learning City Award
It is exciting that Wyndham's Learning Community Strategy 2018-2023 and a series of learning activities and campaigns won the 2021 UNESCO Learning City Award at the 5th International Conference on Learning Cities in Yeonsu.
While serving as the Deputy Chair for the Learning City portfolio from 2016 to 2020, I'm proud to have worked with the then Chair of the portfolio Cr Gilligan, committee members Dr Barrera, Dr Chugh, Dr McKechnie, Silva, Prabha, Patricia, Natascha, other fellow councillors, council officers and community members. This award isn't possible without everyone's work and contribution.
Having worked on community issues since we moved to the west in 2012, I know how challenging advocacy can be, and that's one of the reasons we started Wyndham's first-ever Smart City portfolio to provide valuable evidence for decision-making and advocacy.
And innovation is also a key component of this award-winning learning strategy. The strategy integrates with Wyndham's Smart City agenda, fostering innovation, encouraging entrepreneurial spirit, and providing new opportunities for residents and businesses to learn and learn together.
