Roadside garbage detection project win government funding

Mr Nural Chowdhury, a local resident, started a roadside garbage detection project. The project uses technology and sensors to detect roadside waste, fallen trees, damaged street signs and potholes. The State Government is providing $190,000 to fund this Pick My Project – Roadside Garbage Detection.

Wyndham's Smart City Portfolio Holder Cr Aaron An congratulated Mr Chowdhury and his team for their passion, commitment and foresight to develop this concept to use artificial intelligence to achieve improved waste monitoring and management which supports our commitment to creating a sustainable and liveable city.

Cr An said "Emerging technology such as this 'Roadside Garbage Detection' is another way we can use innovative solutions that can address the challenges our city faces with high density urbanisation."

He also thanked the state government for providing funding to community based project: "It was great to see so many community projects funded in Wyndham and across the Western metro region."
