Some of the best and latest technology will be on display in Wyndham, with residents being invited to experience it for themselves.

Residents will have the chance to try out Wyndham City’s award winning augmented reality technology, WynLens, by trying out a headset that will allow them to see for themselves what Werribee’s City Centre will look like in the future.

The technology will be on show as part of the Digital Innovation Festival from Wednesday 23rd August to Wednesday 6th September.

Wyndham City’s Smart City portfolio holder, Cr Aaron An, said there would be plenty of other technology for people to try during the festival.

“This is only the second time the Digital Innovation Festival has been held, and the first time Wyndham City has taken part, which is very exciting,” Cr An said.

“In Wyndham we will hold events such as coding classes for adults and Lego robotics for children. We will also be working with education and innovation consultancy organisation, Collective Campus, to host two business entrepreneur workshops.”

“A highlight of the festival will of course be the opportunity for residents to try out WynLens for the first time. This technology has been developed by Wyndham City to show residents our plans for the Werribee City Centre and was recently recognised with the 2017 National Award for Excellence in Local Government.”

“Wyndham’s status as one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia presents us with many challenges. One of the ways we can work to overcome these challenges and ensure we are putting our best foot forward is by embracing new forms of technology.”

“Digital technology is being used every day to turn challenges into opportunities. By taking part in an event like the Digital Innovation Festival we are showing our commitment to embracing the future and working with all levels of government and the private sector to ensure that the Wyndham of tomorrow is a great place to work and live.”
