Presenting the 2019 Australian Smart Cities Award

Date:
Wednesday, 6 November, 2019
Location:

Last week, our smart city strategy won the best strategy at the 2019 Smart Cites Council of Australia and New Zealand awards.

The strategy took about a year to complete. We consulted with more than 800 community members, council staff members and key stakeholders, of which more than 500 community members provided important feedback on how and for what purpose the community would like to see emerging technology deployed.

When we were doing the benchmarking sessions, 14 consultation sessions plus survey data from more than 150 council staffs were used to inform the assessment.

This strategy is really a Whole-of-Council achievement. We won’t be able to achieve this without your supports and inputs.

I would like to heartily thank everyone involved, my fellow councillors, the Smart City Office Team: Adam, Ben, Annette, Himalaya. Smart City Portfolio Committee: Deputy Chair Cr Villagonzalo, member: Jan, Michael, Senthill, Tania, Rui, Martin and Saif. Our CEO Kelly and the Senior Executive team, you all provided valuable inputs during the development of this strategy.

I feel proud to be working with all of you to deliver this.

Thank you.
