I’m pleased to speak in support of the recommendation to adopt the Service and Asset Policy and Framework

This is an important strategic document for Council that will set us on the path to continuing to deliver public value to our community.

As we see more and more people making Wyndham home, we have a responsibility to ensure that we continue to deliver relevant, quality services to current residents, while growing and adapting service provision to meet the needs of new residents.

Many of the services that we deliver, rely on well designed and maintained assets.  Such as kindergarten services, libraries and community meetings spaces.

Taking effective responsibility for integrated service and asset planning requires a strong and informed council, management team and an engaged community.

This Policy and Framework positions us to ensure that service and asset planning is driven by a community first approach – which means that what matters to the community is at the core of our decision making.

Our principles, outlined in the policy, support this approach.  They include:

  • Outcome focused
  • Agile
  • Efficient
  • Accessible
  • Integrated
  • Transparent.

Through this long term, the strategic approach we are committed to ensuring that service and asset planning, provision, design and operations are service-led, with public value outcomes as the core driving principle.

I commend this recommendation to the chamber.
