Technology to support evidence-based decision making

Council is utilising technology to ensure our sports fields serve our community’s sporting needs.

Over the past 12 months Council has started testing revolutionary technology at our sports reserve to acquire crucial data about how the site is being used.

This will inform decisions on maintenance and water requirements, playing surface type and help us determine which hours would be best suited to news sports programs.

The technology was developed in-house by Council’s Smart City Office, and the pilot trial was partly funded by the Federal Government’s Smart Cities and Suburbs Grant.

The success of the pilot has led us to deploy this technology at a further eight additional sites, and it just one example of how technology is improving planning across Wyndham.
