Public Facilities & Services
We need to make sure the public facilities and services meet local community needs.
These needs are often different depending on whether users are from younger families or older people. So we need to make sure that access ensures these diverse user needs are met.
We can address social isolation issues if access to good local facilities and services is maintained. This applies to newer areas and also to older neighbourhoods.
I am working hard to make sure the Council build necessary facilities so our community can access services locally.
During the 2016-2020 council term, we achieved or started:
- Williams Landing Library and Community Centre Planning Phase, Mainview Boulevard Family Learning Centre, Brookdale Road Reserve Pavilion, Clearwood Drive Reserve Pavilion
- Expansion/upgrade: Point Cook Community Learning Centre, Featherbrook Sports Pavilion, Dunnings Rd Sports Pavilion, Point Cook Skate Park, Central Park Community Centre
- Masterplans and Implementation: Lawrie Emmins Reserve, Jamieson Way, Truganina South East Master Plan
- Motion adopted to improve land use around train stations
