Williams Landing Ward: New electoral structure after comprehensive review
A new electoral structure will be adopted at the 2024 Wyndham Local Government election, following a comprehensive review conducted by an electoral structure review panel appointed by the Victorian Minister for Local Government. Guided by the requirements of Victoria's Local Government Act 2020, the council has transitioned from its previous multi-ward system to a more streamlined single-councillor ward structure.
Previously, the council had four distinct wards—Harrison Ward, Chaffey Ward, and Iramoo Ward. However, in compliance with the Act's new requirements, Wyndham City now has 11 wards, each represented by a single councillor. This restructuring was formally approved by the Minister for Local Government in early 2024, marking a significant shift in the municipality's electoral landscape.
As part of this restructuring, the former Harrison Ward has been subdivided into four new wards to reflect better the changing demographics and community interests across Wyndham City:
- Williams Landing Ward: Includes Williams Landing, parts of Point Cook, Truganina and Hoppers Crossing.
- Bemin Ward: Includes parts of Truganina.
- Cheetham Ward: Includes parts of Point Cook.
- Featherbrook Ward: Includes parts of Point Cook.
