Wyndham RDF Strategic Plan 2019 -2025

Date:
Tuesday, 23 July, 2019

SUMMARY

The proposed Wyndham Refuse Disposal Facility Strategic Plan 2019 replaces the existing strategic plan adopted in 2016 and outlines six key goals to be achieved over the time frame from 2019 -2025.

It is intended to position Wyndham as a leader in municipal resource recovery and landfill reduction.

It will support the Wyndham Refuse Disposal Facility to become a leading commercial waste disposal facility, while also recovering the most value out of waste streams to contribute to the goal of a circular economy for Melbourne.

These goals to achieve this intent are:

Goal 1: Become a Best Practice Landfill

Goal 2:  Implement Resource Recovery at the RDF

Goal 3:  Recover energy from Residual Waste

Goal 4:  Strengthen the Governance of the RDF

Goal 5:  Integrate Kerbside Collection and Waste Treatment and Disposal Services

Goal 6:  Advocate to State and Federal Government

The achievement of these goals will result in a significant transformation of the RDF away from traditional landfill operations to a ‘state of the art ‘resource recovery precinct.

KEY ISSUES

  • New strategic plan for the RDF covering the period 2019-2025.
  • Transition of the RDF away from traditional landfill methods.
  • Implement a new governance structure for the RDF
