Partnership Framework - 2019 March OCM

I'm pleased to speak in support of the recommendation to adopt the Wyndham Partnership Framework.

As stated in this report, partnerships are integral to Wyndham's long term prosperity and success.

This Council, together with our local community, has set a long term vision through 'Wyndham 2040' for the future of this city and we have set in place clear strategies to help us achieve this vision.

But we know that local government working alone, regardless of our community strength and ambitions, will not achieve this vision without the support of partners.

There are numerous examples of our current partnership efforts and how these are strengthening and adding value to our city.

Some case studies are listed in the framework – like the new A-League soccer licence and stadium, Greening the Pipeline, and our partnership with Leisure Networks to activate sports pavilions during the day – just to name a few.

The Wyndham Partnership Framework has been developed to build on our work to date by providing criteria for establishing new partnerships and describing features effective partnerships.

It also confirms that the partnerships we seek will be strategic, innovative and collaborative.

The framework guides our partnership work and helps the Council to ensure we invest in the right partnerships to advance our strategic objectives.

For those who are interested in partnering with Council, this framework sends a clear and strong message that we will actively pursue partnerships where there are mutually aligned priorities and goals.

This is an important strategic framework to advance our strategic approach and I commend this recommendation to the chamber.
