More short term drop off bays during peak hours at Williams Landing station

Monday, 18 May, 2020

According to Public Transport Victoria, Williams Landing Station is among the top 20 most used Metro stations, and the busiest suburban train station in Wyndham City, servicing residents of Williams Landing, Point Cook, and Truganina.

During the normal commuting peak hours, Altair road where the train station is located can be full of vehicles that come and pick up passengers.

You may have already noticed that council recently changed the long term parking bays on the Target headquarter side of Altair Road to 5-minute short term drop off bays during morning and afternoon peak hours (7-9am, 4-6pm). So our residents will have more parking spaces to safely park, pick up and drop off.

We are also working on other improvements and enhancements to the train station and surrounding areas which also involve collaboration and cooperation of relevant state government authorities.

As the Smart City Portfolio holder, I have been advocating for more alternative transport. One of the ways to reduce cars on the road is to encourage residents to use alternative transport where we can, such as cycling, but at the same time, we need to make sure there is enough proper bicycle storage around the station.

We have been advised that due to the limited space at this location, it is not possible to install more Parkiteer bike cages in this area. However, we will continue to investigate options and raise this matter with the Department of Transport.
