A school in Williams Landing is critical for building a liveable city
Today's National Ride2School Day, In my view, where possible, every school day should be Ride2School or Walk to School Day. It is not only good for helping kids to build healthy habits for life, but also one of the keys to easing road congestions on some of our most congested roads during morning peak hours.
This is why I have been advocating hard on a school in Williams Landing. The data from our research show that Williams Landing school is already overdue. Researches done based on state government and public data show the areas covered by 20mins public transport and 15mins cycling could cover almost all the most congested roads during peak hours in Wyndham.
This is why this school is so critical. We're not asking for extra. We’re just asking for our fair share, basic public services and facilities, and good infrastructure planning to improve children's health.
I personally support a P-12 school in Williams Landing, there is already a lack of senior secondary schools in the surrounding areas. With 6 bus routes connecting Williams Landing, it is a perfect location for such a school to be established so students can get to the school by buses or other alternative transports.
