GovHack Wyndham 2017 Closing
Good evening everyone. I would like to first acknowledge the peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which Wyndham is being built. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present.
It has probably been one of the longest but most exciting and challenging 48 hours of your lives. Over the course of two days you have been working in teams to develop and come up with innovative ideas, projects, and programs – you name it – using the open government data provided and turn it into something that will be valuable to the community.
As I have said before we started this event on Friday night, the possibilities are endless and I can see that you have all come up with something fantastic. We are all hoping for you to win but like I said being a GovHack participant is already an achievement and we commend you for taking the initiative in joining the event.
There is so much talent, skills and knowledge among our various communities not just in Wyndham and it is great seeing these being put into good use with the potential to provide solutions to some of Wyndham’s challenges.
On behalf of Wyndham City, I’d like to extend our sincere thanks to our GovHack Community Partners:
- Victoria University
- VU Hanger
- HERE Technologies
- MAV
- City West Water
- Microsoft
- Code for Australia
- Collective Campus
- Biz Buddy Hub
- Data 61
- CISSA
Big thanks to all the volunteers, mentors and Wyndham City staff who made this event possible. Thank you to all the participants for your hard work and commitment to making a difference in our community.
Have a good night.
For presenting the ‘Spirit of GovHack’ award for closing:
“The Spirit of GovHack is the link between producing awesome and being awesome; making things and making things happen; developing something of value, whilst valuing most the people with whom you have developed it.
These people make GovHack, GovHack. It is as simple as that!”
