Lunar New Year 2017

Xin Nian Kuai Le! Happy New Year! It’s great to see many families and children from our local communities come together to celebrate this special occasion.

One of the best things about Wyndham is our rich diversity. We have residents who came from different parts of the world and now treat Wyndham as their new home.

Through this diversity, we all get the opportunity to learn about different cultures and their respective traditions. As a community, we also get to celebrate various significant cultural events together.

Chinese New Year is one of the important events for the Chinese culture and I am grateful to take part in this event along with my Councillor colleagues.

It is a festive time for everyone. It is a celebration of a year of hard work and a perfect time for rest and relaxation with the family. Most importantly, Chinese New Year is a celebration of a new beginning and a great start for everyone.

On behalf of Wyndham City, I’d like to acknowledge and thank the Point Cook Cultural Community Association for organising this fantastic event.

It is great that we have many community groups in Wyndham that help foster the great community spirit we have and also help promote the different cultures in our city.

Thank you, everyone, for coming and celebrating the Chinese New Year with us today. We wish all of you an auspicious and prosperous Chinese New Year.
